Who Am I?

The Birth of ORA00600.com

This site was born out of the idea that it would be a good idea to document all the errors that I came across in my day-to-day activities as an Oracle DBA. I created the site sometime in February 2009, using Dreamweaver and a template file to construct the site.

It was basic but was never intended to be much more than a place where I could store all of the solutions to problems I came across.

Google indexed the site and people started to see my notes when searching for similar errors I had encountered. The number of people viewing the site steadily grew, so I decided that I would start to add more detailed content such as guides and articles rather than just solutions to Oracle errors.

I’ve added some ads to the site so that hopefully the clicks I get from them, albeit few and far between, will help to pay for the upkeep of the site. Here’s to wishful thinking 🙂

The aim of my posts is to write in a way that is more informal and different to the documentation. The Oracle documentation is great, but sometimes it’s not written in an easily understandable format. Hopefully my writing style is a little easier to understand…

What’s in a Name?

The name came about because it is one of the dreaded error messages from Oracle, and I thought it would be a good name for a site.

I’d love to hear from you with feedback about the site. If you have anything that you would like to contribute to the site, please get in contact with me via email: admin@ora00600.com.

Update December 2016

Since creating the site in 2009, many things have changed. Not least my profession…I decided in 2013 that I would take a bit of time out from Oracle and IT. I went travelling around the world and worked in New Zealand for 1 year – in a ski resort and on a farm!

I have recently become a fully qualified personal trainer in Canary Wharf, London. So if any of you guys live/work in London and want to get in good shape drop me a message 🙂
