ORA-00600 internal error code, arguments: [1403]

I’m running an Oracle database version 9.2.0.8 and we have Data Guard configured which replicates our production DB to a physical  standby. Then, when we want to refresh a development database we clone, at the SAN level, from the physical standby to one of our DEV environments.

That’s what we did and I was re-configuring the database to start up on the freshly cloned disks. This included the parameter file, password file, activating it so that it was no longer seen as a physical standby, etc. After starting it up in nomount mode, I ran the command “ALTER DATABASE MOUNT” and got the following error:

ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [1403], [], [],  [], [], [], [], []

Looked it up on  Metalink and found the following doc:

Metalink: ORA-600 [1403] [ID 138412.1]
No worrk around, fixed in 10.2.0.4

In order to try and start the database, I changed the autostart parameter within the Windows registry so that when I started the service it would start the instance, also. This fixed it. To be honest just the startup command would probably be sufficient. Still, problem solved!

Like it, share it...
