Invalid SYS Objects after 10g to 11g Upgrade

The Problem

When upgrading from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.1, and applying the latest patchset, which was patchset 8 at the time of writing this, I found there to be several invalid objects in the SYS schema.

I raised an SR with Oracle support who informed me that I could drop these objects because they were no longer required. They referenced BUG 4460775 which apparently relates to this case.

OWNER OBJECT_NAME OBJECT_TYPE STATUS
------ -------------------------- ------------------- -------
SYS SCHEDULER$_JOBARG_VIEW_T TYPE BODY INVALID
SYS SCHEDULER$_JOB_FIXED TYPE BODY INVALID
SYS SCHEDULER$_JOB_VIEW_T TYPE BODY INVALID

The Solution

I went ahead and dropped them from the SYS schema as advised to do so, although this did seem a little wrong to do at the time…I haven’t noticed any issues since then, but we have started to upgrade all of the DBs to 11.2.0.2 anyway.

I would recommend upgrading to that patchset because from what I have seen there are quite a few bugs in 11.2.0.1.
